Spring came early! Oscar nominations were announced on Monday. One of the bigger surprises is the Best Picture category. It got a facelift and went from 5 nominations to 10! I think this will give more underrated films an opportunity to get more recognition.

Biggest surprises: The Blind Side and Up. As much as I love The Blind Side, I’m surprised it beat out The Hangover or Invictus.
Winner: Avatar—with its high success, I wouldn’t be surprised if this would be added to the mix.

biggest surprise is that they actually went to 10 nominees for best picture...IMO makes it less of an honor to be nominated.

I agree that (500) Days of Summer should have gotten nom'd for SOMETHING! Awesome script & movie. Sad day...
