America's Heartbreak

Lately, the celebrity world has been full of infidelity, scandal. From Tiger to Josh Duhamel (not confirmed) a lot of celebs seem to like to have a little something extra on the side. None of these rumors shocked me more than the Jesse James/Sandra Bullock affair. Two weeks later and this is still the topic of conversation (in fact I had a dream about it last night…sad, I know). You can’t help but have a little piece of your heartbreak for her. A woman who’s on top of the world after her Oscar win is humiliated by the recent infidelities of her spouse.

Their fairy tale romance went from this to this. With ‘four mistresses’ coming out of the wood works, you can’t blame the woman for going into hiding, canceling appearances.

It’s okay Sandy. You’ve got America on your side.

Do you think she’ll leave Jesse? Would you stay in hiding?

Best/Worst Dressed

This year's Oscars had a variation of different looks. From high fashion to classic Hollywood, the stars brought on the glamour. Here are a few of my favorites and eh...not so favorites.

BEST DRESSED

This is the best Cameron has looked in a long time. Oscar De La Renta does nothing wrong in my book. Well done RZ team!

The Oscar winner glowed in the metallic Marchesa gown.

This was a dress you either love or hate...in this case I loved it! I thought Vera looked gorgeous in this beautiful scarlet Marchesa gown. This fashion risk worked for me.

You don't normally see prints on the red carpet, but Rachel McAdams pulled off this Elie Saab gown.

EH...

I appreciate SJP taking a fashion risk with this Haute Chanel gown, but I would have liked to have seen it on someone like Nicole Richie. Nicole can pull of that loose kind of silhouette.

WORST DRESSED

I do not adore this look on Charlize. Who wants cinna-buns on their chest?

Mariah please hire a new stylists. The Valentino gown didn't do the songstress any justice, but the shoes are cute.

The picture speaks for itself.

What were your favorite/least favorite dresses?

Mini Fashionista's

This isn't a sweet a picture (image courtesy of her blog) of a stylish old lady. This is Tavi Gevinson, the 13-year-old fashion blogger who has taken the fashion world by storm. She isn't your typical teenager. She doesn't worship the Jonas Brothers or Miley Cyrus, instead she's sitting front row center at fashion shows. At 13, I didn't speak Prada, Dior or Chanel. Abercrombie and American Eagle were my go to 'designers.' My idea of fashion was pink pleather pants and bedazzled tanks (yuck!).

As if having a 13-year-old fashionista wasn’t enough meet Katie Bids. She’s 5 and made her first appearance at New York Fashion Week. Ha! She’s a cute and rubbing elbow with Michael Kors. What’s next Toddlers and Tiara’s fashion week edition?

While these youngins are capturing the latest fashions. What were your fashion musts as a kid/teen? Mine were polka dot leggings, platform boots (Spice Girl style) bedazzled tops and flared jeans. These looks took fashion to a whole new level of…tackiness.

Pretty Woman Still Has The Golden Touch

If your Valentine's Day wasn't filled with chocolate, flowers, it might have been spent with the cast of Valentine's Day. According to the New York Magazine, Julia was paid $500,000 a MINUTE! Considering she was in the film for 6 minutes, she made an easy 3 million dollars! Maybe, I should get into acting.

As much as I love rom-com's...not sure I want to pay to see this one. It looks like a weak attempt of Love Actually. Since Valentine’s Day was so successful at the box office this weekend (52.4 million), New Line Cinema is thinking about making a similar movie revolving New Years Eve. What’s next Halloween? Easter? I don’t know about you but I miss romantic comedies like Harry Met Sally. You can relate to it and it doesn’t ooze of cheese.

Did you see Valentine’s Day? What were are thoughts?

GRAMMY HIGHLIGHTS

Here some HIGHlights from last night's Grammy's.

BEST PERFORMANCES:

As much I loved this performance, I do wish P!NK would have done something different than reenact performances from the Fun House tour.

The girl sure knows the meaning of being fierce.

MOST OVERRATED:

I know most of you love this performance. I mean Elton, Gaga, glitter, and fire? What else could be missing? Excitement.

WORST PERFORMANCE:

I know she isn't the Reba or Carrie of Country, but Princess Sparkles was bit off tune and Stevie was her background singer? It should have been the other way around. This performance has hot mess all over it.

MOST RANDOM PERFORMANCE:

The introduction and performance speak for itself.

WORST DRESSED:

At least she looks happy? Sorry Brit, this DG body suit looks like a bad attempt at Gaga.

Katy--this Zac Posen gown is not hot, it's cold.

BEST DRESSED:

Va-va-voom Heidi! (Emilio Pucci dress)

Posh would be proud J-Hud.

Lea Michele's second choice (Romona Keveza) was a winner!

Never thought I'd say this but Miley is looking her age in Herve Leger by Max Azaria dress. Will this be in Wal-Mart?

Next up--the granddaddy of grand shows--THE OSCARS.

What were your favorite HIGHlights and LOWlights?

Open Letter to Ms. Spears

Britney-

I’ve been a fan of yours way back when boy bands ruled the charts. Despite the lip-synching—you’re still one of my favorite entertainers. Everyone has a ‘Dark Age, but I’ve stuck by all 6 of yours. Even when you…
a) Cheated on Justin
b) Got married in Vegas
c) Married K- Fed
d) did Chaotic
e) Shaved your head
f) Dated a slimy Paparazzo

Brit—I’ve stuck by you through it all. Even at your at your greasiest moments, I knew you’d bounce back. I even saw you on your ‘come-back tour.’ Now that you’re life is gradually getting back together with a new BF, regular visitations with your children…can you please hire a stylist and new hairdresser. I think I can put better outfits together with my eyes closed. With all of your success and stardom—you should look like one (think Gaga, Beyonce). There are days when you pull it together (i.e. VMA’s 08). Let’s try to make this glamour look more routine.

You know it’s bad when Lindsay starts looking normal…

If Blair Waldorf Joined a Sorority...

She might be something like this.

As a former sorority girl, I realize this sort of thing goes on in certain schools. I chose not to take it too seriously. In fact I thought parts of it were funny. What if she was being serious? HA—If that were the case-Dr. Drew would be all over that.

PS- Thanks KS for the hilarious link!

Hope for Haiti

George Clooney and Wyclef Jean are co-hosting 'Hope for Haiti' tonight. With the help of Hollywood this telethon airing on MTV, NBC, ABC, HBO, CNN (8-10 PM) will benefit the victims of the traumatic earthquake.

If you haven't donated already, maybe after watching this you will.

If that doesn't melt your heart, I don't know what will.

I've made a contribution through UNICEF.

But you can also donate to these organizations:

Let Go

Sometimes it's hard to let go of the past. Whether it's an ex, an old friend...at one point you have to let go. Separate yourself from that person and move on to become a better one. Before, I get too deep on you…here are some things (in a celebrity sense) that I’ve let go. As a 90’s child, I followed all the 'it' trends and celebs.

My undying love for Hanson (that’s right, Hanson).

From the ages of 11-15-I was the ULTIMATE teeny-bopper. In today’s terms, you could compare my obsession to the Twi-Hards. At one point, I really really thought I was going to be Mrs. Taylor Hanson (embarrassing?). As I got older my obsession faded and moved on to bigger and better things like Death Cab For Cutie. Eventually, I grew up and Hanson did too. In this case, we didn’t grow up together. They all got married and had tons of babies.

Mariah Carey
I used to LOVE Mariah Carey—especially in the Fantasy days. Before she went R&B and started wearing butterfly rings. Old School Mariah used to be full of great pop songs. At some point you have to move on from crop tops and low-rise jeans…unfortunately, Mariah hasn’t. New comers like Adele can show Mariah it's not always about that Glitter...it's more about the voice.

Low Rise Flare Jeans
Before the skinny jean—there was the low-rise flare jeans. Girls—you know what I’m talking about. The jeans were so low that people could practically see your underwear. I’m proud to say that I’ve retired these from my wardrobe.

Short Haircuts
You know those days when you feel like you need a change? A short haircut normally does the trick. Until you look back on pictures and ask yourself, ‘why did my friends let me do this?’ Not all short haircuts look bad…they’re just not for me. Future reference—my dear friends, please don’t let me cut my hair short.

You get the picture--I could go on and on.

The point is--eventually those flare jeans start to look funny. Or that boy band doesn't appeal to you anymore. As you move on from the old, you realize there are new things to try (skinny jeans, Glee, Ke$ha). Even if you choose the same path or a different one, it’s still always fun to reminisce on the good times.

SUPER SIZED GOLDEN GLOBE EDITION

In case you were on another planet...the Golden Globes were on tonight! I love 'Red Carpet Season.' I love the glitz, the glamour, the laughs, the tears and the speeches. But, first and foremost...I love the glamour!

BEST DRESSED:

I thought Lea Micheala had her coming out party on the carpet tonight. She looked ab-solutley stunning in an Oscar De La Renta gown.

Olivia Wilde brought on the sex appeal in a Gucci Gown that fit her like a glove. She looked gorg.

Golden Globe Winner Sandra Bullock glowed in a purple Bottega Veneta gown.

NOT SO BEST DRESSED:

Some of you may disagree...but Mrs. Ben Affleck looked off tonight. She looked a bit haggard. The grayish tone of her dress didn't really compliment her skin tone. Not one of her best looks.

Chloe is known to take risks. I thought the dress didn't fit her well...it look like the dress was wearing her instead of her wearing the dress.

BIGGEST TREND: Flesh Toned Gowns

Drew was one of many celebs who tackled the nude trend. Not sure how I feel about this Red Carpet Trend, but I have a feeling we'll be seeing more of it at The Oscars.

BEST SPEECHES:

Hands down, most inspirational speech of the night.

T-Bone Streep does nothing wrong in my heart.

I also loved Sandra Bullock's speech. 2009 was the year of the Bullock. It was so deserved and I am thrilled that she is receiving so much success at this time.

Host Ricky Gervais did a great job! I don't know if it was the alcohol talking, but I enjoyed his sense of humor. His introduction to Mel Gibson=comedic genius.

The Waiting Game

Currently, I'm sitting in a room full of people who are having the same thoughts as me... "Why me?" "How long will be here for?" "Why didn't I try to get out of this?"

This can only mean one thing...jury duty. I thought about trying to get out of it, but I always knew it would haunt me and become a problem in a few months.

Waiting for them to call my number (lucky #83) got me thinking about Conan. I can't imagine what's going through his head right now. NBC has really screwed up. Why would they risk losing the funny-big haired comedian?

He released a statement yesterday...

"People of Earth:
In the last few days, I’ve been getting a lot of sympathy calls, and I want to start by making it clear that no one should waste a second feeling sorry for me. For 17 years, I’ve been getting paid to do what I love most and, in a world with real problems, I’ve been absurdly lucky. That said, I’ve been suddenly put in a very public predicament and my bosses are demanding an immediate decision.
Six years ago, I signed a contract with NBC to take over the Tonight Show in June of 2009. Like a lot of us, I grew up watching Johnny Carson every night and the chance to one day sit in that chair has meant everything to me. I worked long and hard to get that opportunity, passed up far more lucrative offers, and since 2004 I have spent literally hundreds of hours thinking of ways to extend the franchise long into the future. It was my mistaken belief that, like my predecessor, I would have the benefit of some time and, just as important, some degree of ratings support from the prime-time schedule. Building a lasting audience at 11:30 is impossible without both.
But sadly, we were never given that chance. After only seven months, with my Tonight Show in its infancy, NBC has decided to react to their terrible difficulties in prime-time by making a change in their long-established late night schedule.
Last Thursday, NBC executives told me they intended to move the Tonight Show to 12:05 to accommodate the Jay Leno Show at 11:35. For 60 years the Tonight Show has aired immediately following the late local news. I sincerely believe that delaying the Tonight Show into the next day to accommodate another comedy program will seriously damage what I consider to be the greatest franchise in the history of broadcasting. The Tonight Show at 12:05 simply isn’t the Tonight Show. Also, if I accept this move I will be knocking the Late Night show, which I inherited from David Letterman and passed on to Jimmy Fallon, out of its long-held time slot. That would hurt the other NBC franchise that I love, and it would be unfair to Jimmy.
So it has come to this: I cannot express in words how much I enjoy hosting this program and what an enormous personal disappointment it is for me to consider losing it. My staff and I have worked unbelievably hard and we are very proud of our contribution to the legacy of the Tonight Show. But I cannot participate in what I honestly believe is its destruction. Some people will make the argument that with DVRs and the Internet a time slot doesn’t matter. But with the Tonight Show, I believe nothing could matter more.
There has been speculation about my going to another network but, to set the record straight, I currently have no other offer and honestly have no idea what happens next. My hope is that NBC and I can resolve this quickly so that my staff, crew, and I can do a show we can be proud of, for a company that values our work.
Have a great day and, for the record, I am truly sorry about my hair; it’s always been that way.

I leave you with what Conan does best...making people laugh.

Time to Put Pen to Paper

Hello, Blog world. It's me, Vanessa.

I've been contemplating starting a blog for the past year. After days, months, hours of deciding if I should do it or not, I decided it's time to put pen to paper. I'm going to try to use that motto for my life this year.

I watched Sex & The City the movie last night...it had been awhile since I had watched Carrie and gang. It was like getting reacquainted with old friends. I can't say that I'm super excited for the new movie (get your cosmos ready 5/28/10). A trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-iryx1vkoE) had recently come out for it...not really sure what to think...other than the fact that I will be "Carrie'd away." Any thoughts?

After watching the movie--I did get the sudden urge to shop. If only DVF, Chanel, D&G, Proenza Schouler were all within my reach....and budget.

For now, I'll keep on dreaming.
